Urgent! Need help - I told my parents.

we have just gotten home from sunday-meeting, when my mom ask me if i believe in god and so on.

so i tell her, cause you adviced me to be honest.

and despite all my fears, she took it very calm, and then told my dad whos also taking it calm, and it doesnt seem like theyre hating me now or want to throw me out of the house.. the thing is.

I'm really sympathising with you filip. The study thing is a standard action so that you will see your error of judgement.((??)) Religion and beleifs should not be a complicated issue as it seems to be as a JW. Do you beleive there is a god?,is there a purpose?,and did Jesus die for this purpose? This is how simple it should be. God IS love. When the great day arrives, (in whatever shape or form it does), you will be judged as to the condition of your heart. If the decisions of many to leave the JW way of life turns out to be a wrong one, then each individual will be judged on their single cicumstances as to why they felt they had to leave. Many dubs will have to answer for their actions that contribute to such ones leaving. You are not wicked, and it is not your fault that you have an inquisitive mind. Jesus offered his life for ALL mankind, as long as in your heart this is something you have faith in, then it will be something between you and God, (Jehovah if you prefer) at the end of the day...'''do not go putting your trust in earthling man...'' This includes the organisation, and any person from the JW that judges your actions otherwise. Be strong, be aware, BE YOU!

My sister-in-law is a registered Mental Nurse. You would not beleive the amount of patients she deals with, that have been, or are still, JW's. There is many instances of people having mental breakdowns as they are unable to distinguish between whats being taught, and what is actually taking place. This is not an isolated area, I'm sure its the same worldwide.

One incident that sticks out..(this is confidential ok,so keep to yourself....?) A young Sis' had got pregnant. Her Elder dad had insisted she had an abortion to save face, and she ended up in a mental hospital suffering a mental breakdown. You either get out...or you crack up.

Do you really hate JWs?..... or is it the WT??

to me, jehovah's witnesses are the watchtower society.

i don't think you can seperate the 2. they are both inseperably joined, infact the wt defines how jws believe.

many here say they don't "hate" jws individually, just the society, ie the wt.. where in your personal opinion is the distinction drawn??

Jehovahs Witnesses and the WTS are separate as they themselves will be the first to point out. They don't want their valuable publishing company put at risk by some cooky religion and zany beliefs ...

Can you elaborate on that one? I've not heard that before. How are the JW's seperate from the WTS. I thought the idea was that they got their guidance and their 'beleifs' directly from WTS. Now they're seperate?

Do spiritual ones sit closer to the front?

df'd ones are asked to sit in the back row at the hall.

although i was never df'd, i always sat in the back because i felt more comfortable back there.

i never did participate much anyways so i sat in the last row or before last.

Hey Soledad...

I can relate to that. It may be the same all over, I don't know, but at the hall I went to for years, certain seats seemed to get automatically 'Reserved'. If you had the nerve to sit in a seat that a certain group, or clique, of persons favoured, you'd get the evil daggers from all over. It was even the same for any visitors that arrived, I mean, how where they supposed to know!? Those who'd found that their favourite seat was occupied seemed unable to make another selection.

As for the 'spiritual ones' sitting closer to the front...maybe they do. Its like anything else, those that are enthusiastic want to be nearer the 'action' as it were. I had no choice, with young children, and a pram, we were banished to the back room....although I recall a couple of Sisters having babies a few years later and managing to cop a back row in the main hall, with a couple of seats removed for their prams!!................oh, sorry, I forgot.They had an Elder for a father, and were from the acceptable family brigade.

what a crap week at work!!....

last day tommorow, then friday night pub session lined up..... ....and that long long long lie in on saturday morning with the alka seltzer......life looks brighter already!!.

was there ever such a beautiful time as friday at 7pm?.

No way. Far too long to expect someone to sit still in one place. Expect the kids to stay still and quiet. The tuts and huffs of people that you would have to disturb just to got to the toilet. I had to bite my tongue on many an occasion. Those long winded, laborious, monotonous, talks..oh no, I couldnt do it again. The last one I was going to, my daughter puked all over my back as we were travelling to the convention by car. We were only 5 mins away. I turned around, and headed back home, (an hours drive or so.) I was SOOOO disappointed.

She's looking after Number1...and wants things to be 'just so'. This will continue to be the case. When you do finally rock the boat...she'll get all the pity, and YOU will be the selfish one that ruined it all. Love is love, regardless of shape form or situation.....unless of course she has to please others expectations.

anybody's jw parents ever use that "don't spare the rod" song and dance as an excuse to beat the living shit out of you?

my parents used to relish in the whole physical punishment thing.

i guess the question i'm trying to get at is, do you think wts promotes and encourages physical violence in the home?
